The philosophy behind our approach
How we help
At House of Acupuncture, we work with several complementary approaches that help us understand the body, its signals and the imbalances that may be behind your discomfort. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the principles of acupuncture, we also draw on other specialised tools when they make sense for your individual situation.
What to expect
1.
The visit lasts 75 minutes and forms the foundation of your programme. We spend the first 30 minutes on dialogue, enabling us to decode the indicators that can point us toward the source of your discomfort – whilst hopefully establishing the foundation of trust so vital to our collaboration moving forward. The remaining 45 minutes focus entirely on reducing your immediate discomfort.
The goal of your first visit is a noticeable difference compared to when you walked through the door, whilst we evaluate your body’s response. All of this will set the future direction and form the basis of the subsequent plan, which we will create together.
2.
A few hours before your visit, please avoid food or drink that could discolour your tongue, as its natural colour and shape are a central part of our toolbox. If you routinely brush your tongue in the morning, we ask that you refrain from doing so on the day of your visit, as the coating itself is a strong indicator of the body’s imbalances.
Please wear loose-fitting clothing so we can easily access your arms and legs.
And last, but by no means least – please reflect on any patterns or events in the time leading up to when you first encountered the discomfort.
