MULTIPLE PATHWAYS TO BALANCE

At House of Acupuncture, we work with several complementary approaches that help us understand the body, its signals, and the imbalances that may lie behind your concerns. Our foundation is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the principles of acupuncture, but we also integrate other specialised tools when it makes sense for your specific situation.

We view the body as an interconnected system. Therefore, a session is not just about the immediate tension or unease you feel here and now, but equally about understanding why the body reacts the way it does. Whether acupuncture remains the primary tool, or we complement it with posturology, auriculotherapy, or myoreflex therapy, the goal is always to support the body from multiple angles to achieve the best possible results.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Acupuncture

TCM is based on the principle that the body’s vital resources circulate through a complex network of channels, creating a direct connection between the musculoskeletal system and the internal organs. When the system loses its equilibrium, it affects both physical and mental well-being. By stimulating specific points, bodily functions are regulated, thereby restoring balance throughout the entire organism.

Posturology

Posturology has its outset in how posture is managed by the brain, relying on the impulses it receives from the eyes, feet, and jaw. When this sensory data becomes distorted, the brain compensates based on a misinformed data input. Through a precise regulation of the sensory points around the eyes, feet, and jaw, the brain lets go of its adopted perception, returning the posture to its natural symmetry.

Auriculotherapy (Ear Acupuncture)

Auriculotherapy treats the outer ear as an independent microsystem that mirrors our entire organism. Through this dense network of nerve pathways, there is a direct connection to the brain's neurological centres. By stimulating specific points on the ear, impulses are transmitted to the central nervous system, thereby restoring balance to the areas of the body currently in focus.

Myoreflex Therapy

Myoreflex Therapy is based on the principle that all the body's muscles are embedded within a single, continuous strand of connective tissue running throughout the entire organism. A local contraction in this tissue creates an imbalance in posture. Through targeted pressure on the neuromuscular junctions, the brain is prompted to release its otherwise locked grip, thereby gradually releasing the contraction.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

We have gathered answers to some of the most common questions about our approaches. If you do not find what you are looking for, you are always welcome to contact us.

At House of Acupuncture, your personal history is the compass we steer by. The initial consultation always begins with a close dialogue, where we listen to your narrative and observe the signals your body communicates through your concerns. By uncovering the underlying patterns behind your discomfort, we map out a strategy, continuously evaluating which method will be most beneficial, and we frequently combine two methods to achieve the best possible result. However, everything depends on your individual situation and, most importantly, the underlying source of the issue.

We never restrict ourselves to a single, predetermined approach. The body is dynamic, and since imbalances rarely stem from one isolated cause, we frequently combine multiple methods. Our foundation is most often based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the principles of acupuncture, but if your concerns originate in your posture, for example, we complement the approach with posturology. Our priority is not to follow a fixed manual, but to tailor the exact combination that most effectively addresses the underlying source of your discomfort.

No, absolutely not. It is the dialogue with you and our professional assessment that determines which methods we bring into play. The only task you have is to share the discomfort you feel, and try to describe what led up to it — a chronological sequence of events, as best as you can remember. Based on your narrative, we decode what your body is trying to tell us, locate the source of the imbalance, and tailor the exact approach that will be most beneficial for you. You do not need to study the individual methods beforehand — it is our responsibility to choose the right tools.

While a classic acupuncturist's focus is primarily rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we bridge the gap between Eastern philosophy and modern Western insights. Rather than looking solely at the body’s network of channels, upon which TCM is based, we integrate functional anatomy into our posturological and connective tissue modulation. This means we can address a concern from multiple physiological angles simultaneously. By combining TCM with modern Western methods, we can work with the neurological communication between the brain and body across multiple systems at once, thereby giving the body the optimal conditions to restore its natural balance.

Beyond addressing the specific discomfort you bring to us, the initial consultation is about starting to trace your concerns back to their root. We begin with a close dialogue, looking back along the timeline that led up to the discomfort you experience today. For us, your experiences are a continuous strand of indicators, each one a vital piece of your puzzle. Beyond this, a wealth of other indicators provide us with essential information. We look at your tongue, feel your pulse, and observe how you stand, walk, and breathe, alongside a multitude of other observations that together piece together a picture of your situation. Following this, we map out a strategy reflecting the insights you have shared, and we can begin our targeted approach to help you.
