About House of Acupuncture

When Life Calls for a New Direction

In our early fifties, a recurring question kept nudging us: Was the career we had built over many years, and the all too familiar daily routine that came with it, enough to carry us through to retirement – and what about life after we turned 68? Or did life simply have more to offer, if we only dared take a chance?

The idea of building something new and meaningful was tantalising, especially while we still had the drive and energy to pursue it. So, it boiled down to whether our desire was stronger than clinging to the safety net we had built for ourselves.

Who Says We Have to Settle?

The real turning point came when we saw people close to us beginning to struggle with physical and lifestyle-related limitations – so, was this what was lying in store for us down the line?

We noticed how short-sighted half-measures and quick fixes only created more limitations, whilst lowering their quality of life to boot. That was the moment we made our minds up: We did not want our own sense of security to set the course for our lives anymore. We wanted to take control of our own body and soul while we still could. And we found a new, shared mission that we both became deeply passionate about.

The way forward

Was Rome Built in a Day?

There was no doubt that the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the principles of acupuncture were the right path forward – a fundamentally different approach to understanding and helping another human being. For us, a weekend course or a few quick techniques were never going to cut it. To make a true difference, you need a solid foundation.

That is why we chose to go all in and complete an extensive, 3-year education. This training gave us the strong professional grounding needed to offer a practice built on deep knowledge and, in time, experience – something that could make a real difference.

When the "Obstruction" is Removed

Our driving force was then, and still is very much so today, to see the transformation happening right in front of us. Nothing is more rewarding than to watch a face go from a distorted and agonised expression to a relaxed, almost blissful state of relief. It is at that exact moment, when the "obstruction within the system" is replaced by a deep sigh of relief, bringing back the roses in the cheeks and the gleam in the eyes, that it all comes together.

So, our journey went from a dream, through a vision, into reality. Which brings us to the present, where not only our knowledge but also experience give us the confidence to welcome you to the House of Acupuncture.
